Do I qualify?

It happened, I got a "juror qualification questionnaire", I do qualify, but do I want to do it?

It does sound kind of interesting, I'd probably be bored out my skull in less than an hour though. I tend to fall asleep when things go on and on. Can I bring my knitting?

If I do have to go hopefully they'll disqualify me in the Voir Dire. ( I think that's the latin term for when they ask you questions to see if the prosecution or defense wants or doesn't want you on the jury)

I guess being in a jury can be an interesting experience, depending on the case, that is.

And I suppose that "Voir Dire" actually has French roots. Blessed be Wikipedia, by the way. :-)

You are correct sir! Thanks! When one thinks of law here one thinks naturally that it's all latin.

I wouldn't want to do that neither. But mainly I'd be scared of the responsibility, I think...

If i were the one to be judged i would love to have people like you in the jury not because i know you or something ... but it´s better to have sane and responsible people in there and not some extremistic freaks at least i think you are a fair person ... don´t be scared of the responsibility in my eyes this jury system is questionable anyway, I say do it!

And tell us about it ;)

Like Scheibster said it may be interesting ...

@the grouch: I´d rather take the responsibility myself ... different people different opinions ;)

@ Günter, Thanks! ( aber Alle die regestrieren für die Wahl können so ein Breif bekommen)

@ Grouch, I like to shirk responsibility whenever possible.

@ Zing, I do try to be fair, the sane part is debatable though ;)

@ Zing: Responsibility for me - of course. But responsibility for strangers' lives is definitely not what I want...

awww come on i simply know that you would do the job much better than most of us ... the sane part ... well that is something we should not discuss here and i´m not that good in beeing sane at all o0

@grouch: if he doesn´t do it someone else will that´s the system over there and i think he would be a fair and cautios judge!
If i were in his position i´d do it!

is it a major crime?

I have no idea yet Zing, So far all I know is that they are checking to see if I'm still eligible. It is the U.S. district court rather than the county court so it's probably fairly major, though that could be a lot of really boring things as well, embezzlement or the like.
I really wouldn't like it to be a violent crime, it's one thing on T.v., quite something else to see actual photos of a crime scene.
