37%....

of Americans can't locate the U.S. on a map.
Of those surveyed though;
47% say that America is the greatest country in the world,
31% agree that America is the best state of all the United States,
22% feel that that America would be a great place to explore when they get a passport.

Note: The article is satire, though not unbelievable.

We are a little bit smaller on the map but I would say, that more than 50 % here are not able to locate Germany on a map.

Really!? I just assume that everyone has the same type of schooling that I had and find it unbelievable that anyone is unable to find their own country on a map.

there is a sentence in the bible:
Wer suchet der findet

if it's in the bible Günter, then it's true.

Well even here some are having difficulties to find their own country (or gods own) on a map others are a little bit further.
After a pupils exchange with a Torontonian highschool, that´s a pretty long time ago now, a schoolpal told me they´ve had hung up maps of north America with Canada and of Germany on the school floor next to each other. Passing by one morning, she heard a canadian pupil saying that she was very suprised that Germany is so big, nearly like the States and Canada together.
She hasn´t realized that the map of Germany was scaled slightly different to have those maps having almost same size.

P.S. Orinoko, I thought God's country was Wyoming ;D

So you wish to give Wyoming back to him? *g

I´ve been in Minnesota two years ago and liked it. If i will come for a second time i´d like to see a bit of Wisonsin but prairie with tumbleweed? I don´t know. Well till now i´ve planned nothing.

Wyoming also has the Rocky Mountains and Yellowstone Park. I spent a good part of my childhood, and several adult years, in and around the Bighorn Mountains. Even the wide open spaces have their own beauty. I would, however, never want to live there again.

So Wyoming and the bighorn mountains are a completed period of your live and you went out to find other kinds of beauty. Du hast Dich daran satt gesehen?
I´m still liking the area in Westfalen where i grew up too but i´m there pretty rarely and have almost no contact to old schoolpals or even relatives.

in the last couple of weeks i tended to often use public transportation when going to the rehearsals (so i can drink a wodka or two) so i literally was able to overhear some of the conversations between young people in the subway. I bet some of them can´t find anything on a map, all they know is who won the latest blablah idol show wtf? Seriously i think it´s not only an american problem western civilizations are still the most educated but we tend to fall back again!
