Nude skydiving - ok, it's unusual. But nudism at the beach is not unusual here in Germany.
There are two nude Riverfront beaches here in the Portland area as well.Americans in general though are very prudish when it comes to nudity.
And, it's never the ones you want to see naked that take their clothes off;)
You are right - most of the people looking much better with clothes on than without.
